SRINAGAR: Chaos has hit relief distribution in flood-ravaged Kashmir as some survivors of the natural calamity from the summer capital of the state are running from pillar to post to get food grains but to no avail.

Two militants killed in encounter
SRINAGAR: Two militants were on Wednesday killed in an encounter with security forces near the LoC in Macchil Sector of the Kashmir Valley. Two AK-47 rifles and one UBGL along with other war-like stores were also recovered from the site.

Jammu-Srinagar highway reopens after 12 days
Ramsu (Ramban), September 16
After remaining closed for 12 days, the 300-km Jammu-Srinagar national highway, lifeline to the Kashmir Valley, was reopened for traffic today. Highway officials said 320 vehicles, mostly trucks stranded between Udhampur and Banihal, were allowed to proceed towards Srinagar after the passage was thrown open for vehicular movement around 7.30 am.

In north Kashmir, floods displace 2.55 lakh

At least 150 villages with a population of nearly 2.55 lakh people have been hit hard by floods in Bandipore, Baramulla and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir.
