Tension escalated in Kurukshetra district today as members of the newly formed Haryana Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) clashed with the police after they ‘forcibly’ tried to take control of Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi where SGPC task force personnel were already present in large numbers.

Cabinet clears Bill to lower juvenile age
New Delhi, August 6
The Cabinet today cleared a historic, all new juvenile justice law under which 16 to 18 year olds who commit heinous offences such as rapes and robberies can be tried as adults. Heinous offence has been defined as “an offence for which the minimum punishment under the IPC or any other law is imprisonment for seven years or more.”

FDI in Defence, Railways okayed
New Delhi, August 6
The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal for raising FDI limit in Defence from 26 per cent to 49 per cent and fully opened up the Railways for the foreign investment. The two proposals were cleared by the Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prima facie money laundering case exists against Virbhadra, Centre tells Delhi HC
New Delhi, August 6
The Centre today told the Delhi High Court that Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was prima facie involved in a case of money laundering. This was evident from the material on record which was sufficient to register an FIR against Virbhadra Singh, Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain said.

An Army soldier was killed during the ongoing counter-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara while a BSF constable, on board a motorboat, was swept away in Chenab waters to Pakistan from Akhnoor belt of Jammu district this morning.
