4 killed as Rajdhani Express derails in Bihar
Chapra (Bihar): At least four passengers were killed and 23 others injured, 13 of them seriously, when 12 coaches of the Dibrugarh-bound Rajdhani Express derailed near Chapra in Bihar's Saran district today, with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh saying it was too early to blame the Maoists for the incident.

As Delhi University Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh dug in his heels defying UGC’s directive on the rollback of the controversial Four Year Undergraduate Programme for the fourth day today, the commission issued a fresh directive to all DU colleges to admit students on the old 10+2+3 general pattern with immediate effect.

Sugar costlier by up to Rs 2 per kg

Sugar prices today further rose by up to Rs 2 per kg to Rs 33.40 in the wholesale market in the national capital following a slew of measures by the government, including hike in import duty to bail out the industry.

Islamabad: A woman was killed in a firing incident on a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane while it was preparing to land at Peshawar's Bacha Khan Airport late on Tuesday. The PIA Boeing, with around 170 passengers onboard, was arriving from Riyadh, The Dawn reported, adding that two flight stewards have also been injured in the incident. — IANS

The much-awaited monsoon is all set to miss its July 1 date with northwest India as it has a entered a “weak phase”. The revival of the monsoon current is likely in the first week of July, said D. Sivananda Pai, head of IMD’s Long Range Forecasting Division.
