Haryana regularises 8,800 roadways employees Chandigarh, June 24 It today decided to regularise 8,800 roadways employees in accordance with the agreement by virtue of which they will not seek arrears and will submit affidavits to this effect. The Cabinet also decided to relax the outsourcing policy by directly engaging safai karamcharis on a contractual basis at Rs 8,100 per month with effect from July 1. These decisions were taken today at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The Cabinet has also opened the registry of plots in the recently regularised colonies. It constituted a Cabinet sub-committee under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Harmohinder Singh Chattha to review the area norms followed by the Town and Country Planning Department for group housing and plotted development in small and medium towns. Appeasing the drivers and conductors of the roadways recruited after January 1, 2003, the Cabinet decided to allow them the regular pay scale from January 1, 2014. No arrears will be given to these employees up to December 31, 2013. Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Hooda said the government had opened the registry of plots in the recently regularised colonies, so there would be no ban on sale or transfer of plots. He said the Cabinet sub-committee headed by Finance Minister Harmohinder Singh Chattha and Power Minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, Industries Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala and Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal as members would submit its recommendations for group housing and plotted development in small and medium towns in the next meeting. Hodda said the safai karamcharis appointed on a contractual basis would be on the rolls of the municipality concerned. “The municipalities would be advised to seek concurrence of the competent authority for the creation of additional posts of safai karamcharis keeping in view the norms of one for every 400 inhabitants,” he said. Hooda said all sewermen of municipalities would be entitled for a risk allowance of Rs 2,000 per month.
