: Jammu and Kashmir government today lifted the four-year-old ban on Short Messaging Services (SMS) on all pre-paid cell phone subscribers in the state. "On the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the restriction on SMS to the pre-paid cell phones in the State has been revoked," an official spokesman said.

Cong extends support to new JD(U) govt in Bihar
PATNA: Congress in Bihar today decided to continue with "unconditional" support to JD(U) government in Bihar and handed over its letter of support to Governor D Y Patil. As directed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), a Congress delegation led by state president Ashok Choudhary met the Governor and submitted the letter.

17 killed as bus falls into gorge on JK Highway

Poohla case: 3 acquitted for lack of evidence

Three of the six persons accused of killing Nihang chief Ajit Singh Poohla were today acquitted for lack of evidence by the District Sessions court. After several witnesses turned hostile, Justice Gurbir Singh today acquitted Navtej Singh, Harchand Singh and Harpreet Singh.

The Punjab Government and the Chandigarh Administration are at loggerheads over access to Mullanpur. The UT Administration today alleged before the Punjab and Haryana High Court that its neighbour was not cooperating with it in the development of a regional plan for Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh; and one of the objections was that there were not enough “doors on the Mullanpur side”.
