NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to accept the Sahara Group’s proposal to pay the entire amount to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in cash installments of Rs. 2,500 crore each at regular intervals of three months, thereby extinguishing all outstanding claims by July 2015.

Sushma blocks Venod Sharma’s entry into HJC
Chandigarh, March 6
The BJP has apparently blocked Venod Sharma’s joining the Kuldeep Bishnoi-led Haryana Janhit Congress. The saffron party, it is learnt, has threatened to walk out of the pre-poll alliance with Bishnoi. Ambala MLA Sharma, who submitted his resignation to the Congress president yesterday, was left high and dry after Kuldeep Bishnoi succumbed to the threat and called off his press conference to announce Sharma’s induction into his party.

After outrage, UP police drop sedition charges against Kashmiri students
Lucknow/Srinagar, March 6
The Uttar Pradesh Government on Thursday slapped charges of sedition against 67 Kashmiri students who had cheered Pakistan when its cricket team beat India in the Asia Cup match last Sunday, but dropped the charges late at night following widespread condemnation.

11 pistols seized from Samjhauta passengers
Amritsar, March 6
Customs officials at Attari today confiscated 11 Pakistan-made pistols and 22 magazines from six Samjhauta Express passengers, including two women. The accused belong to riot-hit Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
