Government takes measures to ensure the safety and security of people from the Northeast in New Delhi New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Munirka village in South Delhi is home to a large number of people from the northeastern states, a majority of them students. After a few incidents of attacks on people from the northeast in the city, there were rumors that a `panchayat’ in Munirka had ordered the eviction of all northeastern people from the locality. However, people in the locality have denied this, and expressed their support for people from the Northeast. The police has also assured off all possible security measures for them in Munirka and elsewhere in the capital.
NCP anticipates forming alliance with Congress in Goa, Gujarat, Odisha New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is looking forward to form alliance with ruling Congress party in three states, ahead of the upcoming general elections. Even though the Congress has not stated anything, NCP leader D P Tripathi said that the talks are in process to come to a conclusion regarding the alliance in Goa, Gujarat and Odisha. Earlier in the day NCP also declared the list of 24 candidates who will contest in the upcoming general elections.
Sahara chief Subrata Roy surrenders New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): Sahara chief Subrata Roy was on Friday taken into police custody in Lucknow following Supreme Court's warrant against him for not appearing in court in a case linked to his alleged failure to return investors' money. His son and Executive Director of Sahara Group Sumanto Roy told that being a law abiding citizen Subrata Roy willfully decided to submit himself to Lucknow police.
