Union Cabinet gives nod to President’s Rule in Delhi
* Notification likely today
* Assembly in suspended animation
New Delhi, February 15
A day after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues tendered their resignations, the Union Cabinet tonight recommended imposition of the President’s Rule in Delhi with the state Assembly kept in suspended animation. The Cabinet recommendation has been forwarded to President Pranab Mukherjee for approval. A formal notification in this regard is expected tomorrow.

AAP to take on Hooda in his bastion
New Delhi/Chandigarh, February 15
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today decided to launch its General Election campaign with a rally at Rohtak in Haryana with Arvind Kejriwal being its face. Another rally will be held at Kanpur next month. Having resigned as the Delhi Chief Minister on Friday, Kejriwal and his party’s political affairs committee met to chalk out future plans.

AAP govt was like nightmare: BJP
New Delhi, February 15
A day after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the Delhi Chief Minister, the BJP described his 49-day-old government as a “nightmare” which “thankfully is over”. Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley, a key target of AAP workers’ protest in Delhi, called the AAP government the “worst ever state government that Delhi has ever witnessed”.

In Afghanistan, Khurshid backs Karzai, offers all possible help
New Delhi, February 15
On a quiet visit to Afghanistan ahead of the elections in the war-torn nation, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid today said India would continue to assist Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) “in whatever manner possible and within our capacities.”

Chargesheet against Tejpal on Feb 17
Panaji, February 15
Goa Police will file chargesheet on Monday against Tehelka founder-editor Tarun Tejpal who was accused of sexually assaulting his woman colleague last year. The chargesheet would be filed before Principal Additional Sessions court judge Anuja Prabhudesai, sources said today. Tejpal (50) has been accused of raping the woman in a lift at a star hotel near here during Tehelka's ThinkFest in November 2013.

Oceans to help power coastal homes
Chandigarh, February 15
Studies are underway to determine the feasibility of harnessing the movement of ocean water to generate electricity as part a government initiative to exploit renewable sources of energy. The use of ocean waves, currents and differential water temperature are among the relatively new fields in India that are being looked at for generating power in a bid to ensure energy security and move towards lower carbon emissions.
