Prime Minister Manmohan Singh addresses a press conference in New Delhi on Friday Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday declared that his innings as the executive head of the government will end after the Lok Sabha elections in May and endorsed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's credentials for the top job while warning that Narendra Modi would be ruinous for the country.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will move a US court here seeking dismissal of a human rights violation lawsuit filed against her by a Sikh advocacy group and will urge the court to prevent it from filing further cases on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in America.

The Supreme Court today dismissed former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Nirmal Yadav’s petition challenging the trial court decision to frame charges against her in the corruption case involving payment of Rs 15 lakh in cash on August 13, 2008.

Petrol dearer by 75 paise, diesel 50
New Delhi, January 3
Petrol prices were hiked by 75 paise and diesel by 50 paise per litre due to an increase in global crude oil prices and a fall in the rupee value. The hikes, effective midnight tonight, are excluding local sales tax or VAT and the actual increase will be higher and vary from city to city.
