FLASH FORWARD
Artistic applause
Exhibitions, workshops, theatre, dance, music, literature... the art scene in Chandigarh rocked in the year gone by. In 2014, many more horizons are there to be conquered...
Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time…wrote Thomas Merton in No Man Is an Island.
Chandigarh folks must get ready to find some and lose some as the art calendar for the first quarter of the year looks pretty promising. Audiences have come back to Tagore and art lovers are thronging the meets that bring the best of artistes. Year 2013 ended on a high note, which has put those behind the curtains in an overdrive to make the city a melting pot of different art forms.
Folk flavour
It's a play on the word that's been the most played, often repeated and always worked upon by the folk artists. It's hard not to give into the pull of the ultimate muse because Jugni belongs to everybody. Just as we've stopped tuning into one version of it, it's time to revisit the "eternal firefly" that fits into all the cultural situations. "Jugni is a folk word. It doesn't have a writer and being a folk song, it belongs to everybody. I have sung it in my way," shares Paramjit Singh Sidhu, better known as Pammi Bai, of his recent album Meri Jugni.

This is the opening Punjabi film of 2014, and what an opening! Some people never learn. No amount of learning from other people's experience or no amount of 'watch your step' advice comes to any help.

Movie treat in store
Gunday
Ranveer Singh is talented and sets the screen on fire. He has great chemistry with
new-BFF Arjun Kapoor. Priyanka Chopra turns up the heat as a cabaret dancer. A film with a title Gunday may not be quite suitable for a Valentine's Day release. Still we want to see this masala flick!
A still from Gunday

has caught their attention. Sanaya talks about it and more.
Hanging in balance
Ek Ghar Banauga on Star Plus' hasn't been getting a good response off late and has been under the scanner. The show that stars actress Tanushree Dutta's sister, Ishita Dutta, has been asked to pull up its socks and deliver good TRPs or it might be axed soon.
