BS Yeddyurappa rejoins BJP
Bangalore, Jan 03 (ANI): Former chief minister of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa rejoined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and would merge his regional Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) ahead of 2014 general elections. This came a year after Yeddyurappa walked out of the party alleging betrayal. Yeddyurappa, a strongman from the majority Lingayat community, said formalities would be completed within three to four days. Senior BJP leader Ananth Kumar said the sole purpose of the merger was to defeat the Congress Party. 



Presidential reference against AK Ganguly approved: P Chidambaram
New Delhi, Jan 03 (ANI): Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that the Cabinet had approved the proposal of sending a presidential reference to remove former justice AK Ganguly from the post of chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission. Ganguly is accused of sexually harassing a 22-year-old law intern, with a new damaging charge emerging that he had accepted the hospitality of a Pakistani national without permission. While addressing a news conference in New Delhi, Chidambaram said that the union cabinet had granted the proposal of the Interior Ministry to send a reference for inquiry into the allegations against the retired Supreme Court judge.

New Delhi, Jan 03 (ANI): Ruling out third term for himself, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday said that he will hand over charge to a new PM after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He further stressed that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has outstanding credentials to be nominated as his party's PM candidate, however, an announcement on the same will be made at an appropriate time.



BSF tightens border security ahead of Bangladesh polls
West Bengal, Jan 03 (ANI): India’s paramilitary, Border Security Force (BSF) beefed up security at border after they received inputs of increase in infiltration due to growing political instability over upcoming polls in Bangladesh. Paramilitary troopers were seen patrolling along the India-Bangladesh border in Fulbari area of West Bengal. Inspector General of BSF's North Bengal Frontier, SK Sood said that the personnel had recently intercepted Bangladeshi nationals at the border.
