Progressive Punjab Agri Summit on Feb 16: The Punjab Government will hold 'Progressive Punjab Agriculture Summit-2014', a mega agricultural event to be held for the
first time in the state, on February 16 at Chappar Chiri in Mohali. The five-day programme will include, among other events, an exhibition of various farm tools for agriculturists.

Holiday in Fatehgarh Sahib district today: Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has announced a local holiday in the district on December 27, the third day of Shaheedi Jor Mela held to mark the martyrdom day of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. Arun

2 killed, 2 hurt in road mishaps: A man and a woman were killed while two others were injured in two separate accidents in the district on Wednesday night. Ram Raj and his wife Yashodhra of Jhawan village were hit on Tanda Road by a speeding car. They were going home on their bicycle. Yashodhra died on the spot and Ram Raj was seriously injured.
In another accident, Vinod Kumar of Amb in Himachal Pradesh died near Baghpur village and his uncle Vijay got hurt. They were hit by a trailer when they were travelling in their pick-up vehicle. Jalandhar
Dentist gets national award in Mumbai: Dr Vivek Saggar, a dentist and
implantologist, won the “Outstanding dentist of the year” award at the first annual FAMDENT Excellence in Dentistry Awards-2013 held in
Mumbai. Dr Vivek, who is based in Ludhiana, figured among nine finalists, who were shortlisted out of 500 dentists from across the country for the award. He was the only finalist from the region (north of Delhi). He also won the ‘Special jury award’ for the ‘Clinic of the year’. Nawanshahr
Two traders held for selling Chinese string: The police have nabbed
two shopkeepers, Akash Gautam and Nitin of Arya Samaj Road, for violating the imposition
of section 144. They were found held for selling, using and storing Chinese string. As many
as 14 rolls of the string were recovered from their possession. TET to be held at 7
examination centres: The arrangements for conducting the state Teacher Eligibility Test
on December 28 have been made in the district. District Education Officer Kulwant Singh said 3,228 candidates would appear for the test at 7 examination centres - Government Senior Secondary School, JSFH Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Doaba Sikh National High School, Doaba Arya Senior Secondary School, Dr Asanand Model Senior Secondary School, WL Arya Senior Secondary School and KC Public School in
the city.
