The Privilege Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council today decided to ask former Army Chief General VK Singh to appear in person before it on January 9 to explain his position on allegations that politicians in the state were paid by the Army.

6 held for acid attack on Ludhiana bride
Ludhiana, December 9
Six persons have been arrested in connection with the acid attack An accused in the case in police custody. Tribune photo on a 24-year-old woman at a parlour in Sarabha Nagar market while she was getting her bridal make-up done hours before her wedding on December 7.
  Those arrested include Amitpal Kaur, alias Dimple, alias Parri, sister-in-law of Honey, the man with whom the victim was to get married.
