Ludhiana, December 9
Six persons have been arrested in connection with the acid attack on a 24-year-old woman at a parlour in Sarabha Nagar market while she was getting her bridal make-up done hours before her wedding on December 7.

Those arrested include Amitpal Kaur, alias Dimple, alias Parri, sister-in-law of Honey, the man with whom the victim was to get married. Parri was arrested from her house in Patiala.

Parri’s close aide Parvinder Singh, alias Vicky, the prime accused who threw acid on the victim, was arrested from the Bakshiwala area in Patiala. In his attempt to escape arrest, he fell from a roof and suffered multiple fractures in the right arm and leg. He was rushed to the civil hospital for treatment.

Others arrested in connection with the case were: Parvinder’s cousin Sunnypreet Singh, Gurtej Singh (alias Brar) and Rakesh (alias Premi), all from Patiala; and Amloh resident Jaspreet Singh. They were arrested from Bhadson road. The car used in the acid attack had also been recovered.

Commissioner of Police Nirmal Singh Dhillon said revenge was the motive behind the acid attack.

Parri was married to Honey’s elder brother Sunny, a native of Doraha who owns a chain of pubs besides running a transport business in Kolkata. She was divorced by Sunny 10 years after the marriage. After the divorce, she, along with her two children, started living with her parents in Patiala.
