Pak must punish 26/11 attackers: India New Delhi, November 28 In a strongly-worded statement on the fifth anniversary of the 26/11 attacks, MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said there was no question of India allowing Pakistan to wish away what was deeply felt national sentiment that the masterminds of the carnage be punished. “We will never allow that wish list to ever happen, not now, not later, not ever,” he said at a press briefing here. On reports from Islamabad quoting the defence lawyer as saying that India had provided insufficient information about the attacks, the spokesman said New Delhi had been assured repeatedly by Pakistan leaders, including earlier this month when Pakistan Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz visited India, that whatever evidence Islamabad wanted had been provided to it. He said it was India’s firmly held belief that 99 per cent of the evidence was already available with Islamabad since the conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan, people who undertook the attack were Pakistan nationals, training for the attack was undertaken in that country and financing also was done through banking and other institutions located there. “Therefore, it devolves on the Government of Pakistan to ensure that the evidence is provided for what is available with them from the expanse of evidence and the entire range of activities that were undertaken prior to the attacks,” the spokesperson added.
