Kolkata, November 24
Bidhannagar Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Apurba Ghosh today refused bail to Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, arrested yesterday in connection with the Sarada chit fund scam, and remanded him in five-day police custody.

Kunal was the CEO of the Sarada media group, owning several newspapers and television channels, which Kunal claimed had been acting as TMC’s publicity wings.

On the eve of his arrest, Kunal had written to PM Manmohan Singh demanding a CBI probe into the chit fund scam. He was arrested in four non-bailable cases, including cheating and forgery, and misappropriation of funds collected from depositors.

Kunal had further posted the names of 12 TMC leaders, including that of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on his Facebook account accusing them of being in the know of the Sarada group’s operations and benefitting from the group.
