Dehradun November 24
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has promised a free and fair trial in the alleged rape case involving additional secretary JP Joshi posted in the Home Department of the Uttarakhand Government. Talking to mediapersons here today, Bahuguna said nobody was above law and he had directed the DGP to carry an independent investigation in the case.

“I talked to DGP BS Sidhu and IG, (Law and Order), Ram Singh Meena and told them to carry out a fair probe. A team of Uttarakhand police has already reached Delhi,” he said.

A team of Dehradun police led by CO City Harish Chandra Sati reached Pandev Nagar police station in Delhi today and took a copy of the Zero FIR, which was registered by the victim against the officer on Friday, accusing him of raping her repeatedly for three years on the promise of a government job.

“We have the copy of the FIR along with her statement given under Section 164 of the CrPC and now our team will take her statement under Section 161 (examination of witness) of the CrPC”, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kewal Khuranna told The Tribune.

The accused officer has also filed a counter FIR against the victim and two others in the Vasant Vihar police station here on Saturday, charging them with blackmail, conspiracy and forgery. A case has been registered under section 355, 504 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 65 of the IT Act.

The SSP said the police have started investigations on the FIR filed by JP Joshi and the police are taking call details of the accused in the complaint. He also said that police might call the girl to Dehradun, if needed.
