Unsafe Shimla: Two teenagers raped
Tribune News Service

Shimla, October 1
A schoolgirl was raped by a classmate and four others and, in a separate incident, a minor girl was raped after being abducted in Shimla.
The 15-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly gang raped by five persons, including a taxi driver, after she was abducted from near her home in Vikasnagar locality of the town on September 28. Her mother had lodged a missing report with the police yesterday.

Two accused — the taxi driver and a juvenile studying in the victim's school — have been arrested and a case registered. The girl, who was reportedly abducted from near her house after being made to sniff chloroform, has been admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC).

The police said the victim's mother spotted her crying in the bushes near their house around 1.30 am last night. The girl told her mother that she had been gang raped after being detained for two days and later dumped near the house.

In the second case, a 16-year-old girl from Mashobra who had come to look up her cousin in IGMC was abducted from outside the hospital around 8.30 pm last night. According to the girl's family, she was taken in a taxi to a hotel in Lakkar Bazaar, raped and later dumped back outside the hospital. One person, who runs a shop in the Tibetan Market, has been arrested.
