12-yr-old handed over to Pak officials:
The BSF authorities handed over a 12-year-old Pakistani boy who had inadvertently crossed over to the Indian territory near the border outpost Kamalpur Jattan in Gurdaspur sector to the Pakistani Rangers. The boy was identified as Kasim of Nagaja, Sakargarh in Narowal district. Nothing objectionable was found from his possession. RPS Jaswal, DIG, BSF, said Kasim was allowed to return on humanitarian grounds. He said at least 16 Pakistanis had inadvertently crossed border and were allowed to return this year so far. — TNS

Register all travel agents, DCs told:
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal has directed the deputy commissioners to register all travel agents under the Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act and issue licences to them by October, 2013. He said the directions had been issued to keep tabs on illegal activities of unscrupulous travel agents. The government had passed the Act with a view to checking and curbing their illegal and fraudulent activities, he added.

Three IPS officers transferred: The Punjab Government on Tuesday transferred three IPS and one PPS officers. Iqbalpreet Singh Sahota has been posted as ADGP (provisioning); RP Mittal AIG, Law & order; and Upinderjit Singh Ghuman SSP, Barnala.

30-yr-old woman found murdered:
An unidentified 32-year-old woman was found murdered in a sugarcane field at Kalewal village on Tuesday. Kuldeep Singh, in-charge of Kheri Naudh Singh police station, said the body bore injury marks on the face and neck suggesting attack with some sharp weapon. The police was investigating the rape angle as well, he said, adding that a case of murder had been registered against unidentified persons.

4 youths booked for rape attempt:
Four youths allegedly tried to sexually abuse a 13-year-old Dalit girl at Thoothgarh village in the district on Sunday. Senior Superintendent of Police KJS Dhillon said the accused had been identified as Tara Singh, Daddu Singh (both brothers), Laddi and Jeetu, all residents of the same village. The police has registered a case against the youths who were on the run. Sources said the accused had pressured the family members of the girl for a compromise.

The Haryana Government has appointed the Chairman and members of the Haryana Police Recruitment Board. Brig JS Mann (Retd) has been appointed the Chairman of the board whereas OP Lohan, Rahul Rao, Pardeep Zaildar, Rajender Ballah, Jawant Singh Khaira and Balraj Singh will be its member. — TNS

523 patients examined
: A total of 523 patients were examined at a day-long 14th annual free health camp organised by the Krishna Utsarga Sansthan in the memory of BJP national general secretary JP Nadda's mother Krishna Devi at their residence at Vijaypur village, near here, on Saturday. Prominent specialists from Delhi, Mumbai and Bilaspur, including Shishta, Sitanshu, Rajesh Upadhyaya, Virender Batish, Suneel, Kamal, Sandip Mahajan, MI Ahmad, Satish Sharma, Reena Sharma, Neeraj Madan and RP Gupta, checked the patients.

3 Nagar Parishad members elected: The state government has nominated three members to the Bilaspur Nagar Parishad here. Veena Devi and Veena Tandon of Lakhanpur ward took the oath of office on Thursday. The third nominated member, Sunil Tadu, president, Beopar Mandal, was not present on the occasion. The oath was administered by SDM ML Mehta in the presence of Nagar Parishad president Rajni Sharma of the BJP and Kamlender Kashyap of the Congress. The remaining 11 elected members of the parishad and executive officer Sanjay Kumar were also present.

Man held with charas: The police arrested a motorcyclist and recovered 1.5 kg charas from his possession at Sarol near Chamba town on Friday night. The police said a patrolling team at Sarol intercepted a motorcyclist and on checking his luggage recovered 1.5 kg of charas from it. A case against under Sections 20 and 29, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, has been registered against the accused, Rehmat Ali, at the Chamba police station.

KANGRA
1 killed as tractor falls into gorge: One person was killed on the spot and another injured when a tractor they were travelling on rolled down into a gorge at Ghatti village falling under Dehra police station on Sunday evening. Stating this here on Monday, the police said Vijay Kumar of Sansarpur Terrace was driving the tractor and lost control on it. Romi Kumar, who was with him, was killed on the spot. Vijay was injured and rushed to the Talwara Hospital. The police registered a case under Sections 279, 337 and 304-A, IPC.
