Lok Sabha passes Food Security Bill
New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): After a long debate and continuous adjournments of the houses in the Parliament and after considering all the amendments demanded by the political parties, with the opposition saying that they will accept the bill even if it is half-baked, the Lok Sabha passed the much awaited Food Security Bill. The bill, which is said to be a major strategy by Congress to win the 2014 general elections, got passed on Monday night after a nine-hour combined discussion, where over 300 amendments moved by the opposition were rejected.



Sonia Gandhi released from AIIMS after check-ups
New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi, who was admitted to AIIMS hospital after she was feeling unwell midway during the hot debate going on in the Parliament on the Food Security Bill, was released after doctors said that her health is stable, at 1:30 am on Tuesday. Gandhi was admitted to the cardiology unit after she complained of exhaustion. The Congress President underwent check-ups for nearly five hours, following which doctors assured that there was no cause for concern. Gandhi was accompanied by Congress Vice-President and her son, Rahul Gandhi out of the parliament.



All parties should support ‘pro-poor’ bill: Ali Anwar.
New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): After the much awaited and debated Food Security Bill got passed in the Lok Sabha following a nine hour debate, JD (U) leader Ali Anwar said that the bill should be supported by all the parties as it is pro-poor and for the welfare of the poor citizen of the country. He further said that the union government should see that there is no extra burden on the state government because of the bill.


 

PM must step down: Sanjay Raut on Arun Shourie’s statement
New Delhi, Aug 27 (ANI): Supporting former union minister and BJP leader Arun Shourie, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said that PM Manmohan Singh must step down as Congress-led UPA government has failed completely on all fronts. Arun Shourie in his statement has said that he does not see India recovering from its current economic crisis till Manmohan Singh steps down as Prime Minister and Narendra Modi takes charge at the Centre. He called Prime Minister as the "main election agent" of Modi as "non performance" of the UPA government has been helping the Gujarat Chief Minister.
