Chandigarh CM gives Rs 5.18 cr for U'khand victims: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday dispatched a cheque of Rs 5.18 crore towards the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for rehabilitation of flood-hit in Uttarakhand. The CM also announced a grant of Rs 10 crore for the reconstruction of all the religious shrines, including Sri Kedarnath Temple and Gurdwara Gobind Ghat Sahib which had been badly damaged in the recent floods. Regulatory body for edibles, drugs: Chandigarh: The Punjab Government on Tuesday constituted Commissionerate of Food and Drug Administration to enforce safety standards for food items, drugs and cosmetics. Health Minister Madan Mohan Mittal said registration and licensing for selling food articles would also be necessary under the Food Safety Act. Book on Gadar movement released: Dr Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, released the English version of "History of Gadar Party" authored by Jagjit Singh on Tuesday. kapurthala. Trees found axed: More than one dozen trees near a Municipal Corporation park were found axed in Model Town this morning. Environmentalists CR Gautam and Rattan Lal Kalra immediately informed the executive officer Adarsh Sharma, who along with corporation engineer, rushed to the spot to assess the situation.
