New Delhi, August 24
Lashkar-e-Toiba bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda, who has been admitted to the AIIMS for special cardiac care, was today sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Delhi court.

A magistrate visited Tunda in hospital and remanded him to custody till September 7. Tunda was scheduled to be produced before the court today after expiry of his four-day police custody.

He was admitted to AIIMS yesterday for special cardiac care. “Tunda was admitted after complained of chest pain. He had been fainting at the Delhi Police’s Special Cell office,” said Tunda’s lawyer MS Khan. Doctors at AIIMS said: “He was diagnosed with complete blockage in his arteries. At around 2.45 pm today he underwent an angioplasty for installing a pacemaker. He is under the care of cardiac consultants, Dr Nitesh and Dr Gautam.”

“If he recovers in the next two or three days, we will request for his custody again,” said a Special Cell officer.
