Processing fee hiked by 10%
Mohali, August 12
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) again increased processing fee by 10 per cent for getting no objection certificate for the sale or transfer of property in residential and commercial sectors. Earlier, for residential property, the fee was Rs 2,500 which has been increased to Rs 2700. In commercial sectors, the processing fee has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,500.
Fear of mystery gang grips P’kula villages

The fear has gripped the villages falling on the Panchkula-Naraingarh road after rumours that the "Kala Kaccha" gang was on the prowl. The rumours spread when some villagers alleged that the gang had struck in Bera village in Dera Bassi and chopped off body parts of people for robbery.
Old sewage pipes take toll on roads
Mohali, August 12
Old sewage and rainwater storm pipes in the town are causing cave in of earth under the roads and near buildings, posing a serious threat to the residents. At least, seven cases of cave in under the road and near buildings at different points of the town have been noticed this monsoon.

PGI takes part in live case performance

The Department of Cardiology, PGIMER, for the first time in its history participated in a live case performance with excellent results. A live case performance was transmitted from PGIMER for the Advanced Cardio Vascular Solutions Conference at Hyderabad in collaboration with Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (USA) recognised as the world’s best interventional cardiology forum. There were a total of 11 live case
centres, eight national centres and three international (USA, Italy and Germany) that participated in the conference.
Gas technology requires less space for 220kV substation

On the eve of the Independence Day, BSNL is launching a special recharge scheme for pre-paid customers. This scheme will be for ten days from August 13 to 22. Under the new scheme, the customers who recharge for Rs 5,000 will get a talk time of Rs 6,000. For the prepaid customers, on recharge of Rs 300, the customers will get a talk time of Rs 300, while on the recharge of Rs 1,000 the talk time will be Rs 1,100.

Oral health awareness drive
Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Panjab University
(PU), Chandigarh, today started a two-day long “Oral Health Awareness” drive on the PU campus. The first day of the Oral Health Awareness Drive “Marching Towards Sparkling Smiles” kicked off with great
fervour. Students, interns and faculty of the institute participated in the balloon rally, which was flagged off from the institute. The participants were raising oral health awareness slogans, echo of those high-pitched slogans could be heard across the campus. The march ended at the Student Centre of the university. The interns of the institute enacted an informative street play at the Student Centre on the importance of oral hygiene, demerits of tobacco and related products. Later in the day, a colorful rangoli competition was conducted on the premises of the institute.
