LoC Killings: Storm in Parliament
New Delhi, Aug 07 (ANI): The government found itself under all around attack in both the houses of the Parliament
over defense minister AK Antony's statement on killing of five Indian soldiers in
Poonch today. The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon while the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for 15 minutes following
the uproar. The BJP demanded an apology from Antony. The defence
minister in his statement had contradicted the position taken by the Army on the killings, following which the Army
had also changed its statement.
BJP slams Antony New Delhi, Aug 07 (ANI): Defence minister AK Antony's statement on killing of five Indian soldiers in Poonch
sparked controversy. BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said the defence minister
had provided an alibi to Pakistan. Antony had described the intruders as "terrorists along with persons dressed in Pakistan army uniform" while an Army spokesperson
had said that "soldiers from Pak army" were involved.
Will do right thing in national interest: Khurshid New Delhi, Aug 07 (ANI): Foreign minister Salman Khurshid has asserted the central government will review and source all factors in dealing with the firing incident by Pakistan troops in which five soldiers of
the Indian Army died around dawn hours on August 06. Speaking to the mediapersons in New Delhi, he said the bodies of
the departed would be sent to their respective homes for funeral with full military
honours. He also assured the government would take the right step keeping in
view wider national interest.
