Mayor demands hike in revenue share

Mayor Subhash Chawla today targeted the UT Administration for not giving the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation its due share of revenue. He demanded that the MC’s share of revenue should be increased from 17.5 per cent to 30 per cent.

Furious Ghaggar damages Nada Bridge
Panchkula, August 7
After the Ghaggar ran amok and claimed the lives of eight youths recently, strong currents of the river have now damaged Nada Bridge on the Panchkula-Yamunanagar road. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) was to start the four-laning of the road soon.

Slush, muck, potholed roads greet passengers
Chandigarh, August 7
For the past more than a month, it has not been easy on commuters to enter the Chandigarh railway station. Due to rains, the road has developed potholes, and the slip road is usually filled with rainwater, making it difficult for the passengers to enter the station with families. Worse affected are the passengers commuting on buses, as the bus stop is far away from the main entrance and they have to cross the potholed road with their luggage and children to reach the station.

38-yr-old man jumps into well, dies

A 38-year-old resident of Burail allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well this afternoon. The victim, Raju, was suffering from depression. The police has shifted the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32.

16 teams to vie for cricket cup
