The police officer said the school authorities, the orphanage management where Najeeb was living and his relatives are being quizzed and the investigations are on. Najeeb's mother and brother raised a hue and cry after the school authorities said it was a case of suicide. His mother said they were suspicious, especially after students said the teachers in the school were dealing very strictly with them, using very harsh punishment. "Nothing can be overruled right now. We found a belt tied around Najeeb's neck. No other evidence could be found," said the SHO. Meanwhile, the management of the Al-Mahmud orphanage where Najeeb was staying described him as a normal child who was average in his studies. "There was nothing abnormal about him. Nor did any tragedy strike him. He ate his pre-dawn meal (Sehri) as usual since he was fasting. After that, he was preparing to go to school and polished his shoes. We conducted our routine inspection and after that, students were sent to school," a management official at Al-Mahmud orphanage said. |
