Army, ITBP spearhead relief, rescue operations
New Delhi, June 17
Teams of the Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have been working tirelessly to conduct rescue operations in the flood-hit areas of North India. A major rescue operation is on in Uttarakhand, where thousands of pilgrims, tourists and locals are stranded.

Dehradun: Cricketer Harbhajan Singh is among the pilgrims and tourists who have been stranded in the upper reaches of Uttarakhand due to landslides and heavy rain. The cricketer is now staying put in an ITBP camp at Joshimath that houses the paramilitary’s first battalion.

From July 1, pay less for calls, SMS on roaming  
New Delhi, June 17
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has reduced national roaming calls and SMS tariff ceilings from next month and said it would allow telecom service providers to offer national mobile roaming to subscribers for a fixed fee from the same date.
The ceiling tariffs prescribed by TRAI in 2007 were Rs 1.40 a minute for outgoing calls and Rs 2.40 a minute for outgoing STD calls while on national roaming.
