Barnala
Top cop summoned in forgery case:
An officer whose name was recently cleared for promotion to the Indian Police Service (IPS) has been summoned by a Baranala court in a forgery case. The court has summoned Punjab Police officer Paramdeep Singh Sandhu, whose promotion was cleared on July 10. A case was filed against Sandhu under Section 319 of the CrPC by Manpreet Kant for allegedly forging the will of the complainant’s mother, Narinder Kaur.

Ludhiana
Chlorine tablets distributed:
On the instructions of the DC, Ludhiana, a joint team of the health department and MC, Sahnewal, today visited some areas and distributed chlorine tablets.

Iqbal Singh is District Attorney  Iqbal Singh has joined as District Attorney (prosecution) in place of Gurdev Singh Tinna, who has been transferred to Chandigarh. Earlier, he was heading the Moga as DA prosecution. He had joined the prosecution department as Additional District Attorney in 1985. He got a warm welcome from the legal fraternity.

Sangrur
Teenaged girl run over by train:
A teenaged girl was killed on Friday after being hit by the Hisar-Ludhiana passenger train while she was crossing a railway track near Sunam, 14 km from here. Station House Officer of Government Railway Police, Sangrur, Gurcharan Singh said the body of the deceased had been kept in a moratorium for identification. The railway police has initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC, he said.
