Scorching heat plays spoilsport

The scorching heat may not have deterred political activists from performing the tasks entrusted to them by their respective parties on the polling day as they were seen facilitating voters at various polling booths, but it certainly kept many voters, especially those in semi-urban areas, indoors as a result of which the turnout was less than the expectations of various parties.

Patient needs help
A 36-year-old patient Subash was admitted to the ICU of the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMC) after both his feet were amputated in a railway accident. According to a hospital release, he also received head injury and was comatose. Subash had to undergo a major orthopaedic surgery, receive multiple blood product transfusions, dialysis and was on the ventilator.
