Minor raped by friend’s brother
Hisar, May 3 The 14-year-old victim’s mother had lodged a complaint with the police against Anil that he took the help of his younger sister and raped her minor daughter. Anil’s younger sister and the victim were friends and Anil lived in a house near the victim’s house. The medical examination of the victim confirmed the commission of crime. Sikhs protest against Sajjan’s acquittal
Karnal, May 3 The protesters also demanded fresh investigations into the case in which Sajjan Kumar was acquitted and said nothing less than death sentence for him was acceptable. Meanwhile, the BJP today started a signature campaign for death sentence to perpetrators of violence on Sarabjit Singh which caused his death and accused the Union Government of not handling the case properly to save Sarabjit Singh.The BJP leaders alleged that the attack in the jail was pre-planned and his death was the result of a deep-rooted conspiracy of Pakistan but the Indian Government did nothing to save him except issuing statements. |
Arhtiyas block road against slow lifting of wheat
Jhajjar, May 3 The protesters were persuaded to lift the blockade following the assurance made by HAFED officials that the process of lifting the wheat would be initiated immediately. The officials said the wheat bags were not lifted due to shortage of space in warehouses. Earlier, the arhtiyas convened a meeting in the market today morning and decided to block the road after lambasting the district authorities for not lifting wheat from the market despite procuring it several days ago. Executing the decision, they blocked the vehicular traffic on the Jhajjar-Jharli road after placing some obstacles there. The worst affected were those people who did job in different power plants at Jharli and take this road to their workplace. The protesters did not let them cross the road, hence the workers had to return to their homes. While talking to mediapersons, the protesting arhtiyas said they had to face a lot of difficulties due to the delay in the lifting of wheat crop from the market. “Agencies procured wheat from the farmers several days ago but are not shifting it to the warehouses. We have approached the authorities concerned in this regard but no one is paying any heed. Thus, we have to block the road to get our grievances redressed,” said the protesters. On getting information, HAFED officials rushed to the spot and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade assuring that the lifting of wheat would be started soon. |

Blood bank allowed to hold camps
Sirsa, May 3 Dr RM Arora, director of the Shiv Shakti Blood Bank said this here today. Earlier, the health department had suspended the licence and restrained the blood bank from holding camps after some irregularities were found during its inspection in June last year. After the blood bank rectified the irregularities, the Health Department had revoked its licence, but did not allow it to hold camps. Local doctors and kin of thalassaemia children had met Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Sirsa MP Ashok Tanwar requesting them to allow the blood bank to hold camps. |

Fatehabad, May 3 Presiding over a meeting of the advisory committee under the Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PNDT) Act today, civil surgeon Dr Suraj Bhan Kamboj said the village would get Rs 5 lakh as the award for this feat. Earlier, Mehuwala was awarded Rs 1 lakh for topping the sex ratio chart in the district. Now, with the village recording the highest sex ratio in the state, the Health Department has sent the name of Bangaon village with a ratio of 1,427 females every 1,000 males for granting it the award for the best village in this regard in the district. Dr Kamboj said under a new amendment to the rules, the fees for registration of an ultrasound centre had been hiked from The civil surgeon said the health authorities had been conducting raids to check the misuse of the ultrasound technique from time to time and action had been initiated against violators. Dr Kamboj said a case had been registered against a doctor in the district after he was found conducting ultrasound tests in an unauthorised manner. Hundreds of buildings have mushroomed on the industrial sector of the HUDA spread over 192 acres of land where this commercial complex is coming up. The Deputy Commissioner said unauthorised construction would not be allowed and action would be initiated against those who had carried out constructions in violation of the building bylaws of HUDA or other authorities. |

Karnal, May 3 The meeting unanimously resolved that Pal was the most suitable person to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Kurukshetra as people want honest and upright candidate to represent them, state general secretary of the party Om Prakash Bakshi said. The meeting discussed the present political scenario, changing political alliances and strategy for the Lok Sabha polls. The decision of the NCP to contest two Lok Sabha seats clearly indicates that the party was not keen to expand the alliance with the Congress outside Maharashtra. However, the meeting did not decide about extending support to any party in the remaining eight seats. The party would decide the candidate for the Karnal seat in due course as political environment was conducive for the state NCP and its mass base was expanding fast, Bakshi added. |

A spokesperson of the board said any candidate could apply for a photocopy of his or her answer sheet by depositing a fee of Rs 500. A photocopy of the answer sheet would be made available to the candidate within 30 days of the request. The candidate will have to give an undertaking that he will not challenge the level of evaluation. However, if the candidate finds some mistake in the re-totaling of marks, or if some question has remained unevaluated, he can approach the board and the mistake will be rectified without any additional fee. |
6 hurt in people, demolition team clash
Gurgaon, May 3 A special team of the MC pulled down two houses much to the annoyance of residents who came on roads and allegedly started throwing stones at officials and the police and even damaged JCB machine. The police after issuing many warnings had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the residents. The entire incident left six, including a policeman, injured. The violence sparked off when a special team, headed by MC Joint Commissioner Veena Hooda and Anju Chowdhary, reached the area to bring down illegal constructions in 900 sq metres of ammunition depot. The team had pulled down parts of two houses in phase three. The team had visited the place earlier also but had to return owing to resistance by the residents. The came again today along with the police. |

Rohtak, May 3 Earlier, eight mobile phones had been seized during such operation on February 11. The police has seized around 55 mobiles and Sim cards since January 2012. 3 killed in road mishaps
Kaithal, May 3 Rajesh Kumar and Ramesh Chand were killed when a motorcycle on which they were riding was hit by a tractor on the road between Habri and Sanch villages. The third person riding on the motorcycle, Sunil Kumar from Tikri village in Kurukshetra district, was seriously injured in the accident. Both the deceased were residents of Habri village. The tractor owner managed to escape with the vehicle after the accident. In another incident, three-year-old Naman was killed when an auto rickshaw, in which he was travelling in with his mother, overturned near Jat School here. Sirsa, May 3 The incident had occurred on May 1. Debris of the ceiling of the dilapidated room fell on Shashi Bala, who was teaching Class XII students in the room. The Tribune had published a news item "Sirsa teacher hurt as part of ceiling caves in" in these columns yesterday. Sending a clipping of the news item to the Chairman of the NHRC, RP Malhotra, state convener of the Human Rights Cell of the BJP, has requested him to take suo motu action in this case. Malhotra said it was the height of callousness of the authorities that despite repeated reminders by the school management committee, the authorities failed to take note of the rundown condition of the building putting the lives of children in peril. |
Papers from telecom office seized
Faridabad, May 3 Deputy Commissioner of Police Devender Singh said the police team investigating the case was analysing the evidence collected against the accused. A woman officer of the rank of the DSP, Pankhuri Kumar, is heading the investigation. According to Singh, the accused will be interrogated and possibly arrested after sufficient evidence against him was collected. He asserted that the investigation would be completed soon. An FIR against the accused was registered on Wednesday night on the complaint of the victim, who is a junior telecom officer posted here. The victim alleged that she was being harassed by Srivastava since 2009. Meanwhile, the employees union of the telecom department today demanded immediate arrest of the accused. |
Man gets life term for killing girl
Sonepat, May 3 According to the case file report, the victim was standing outside her residence on July 13, 2011 when the accused, along with two other accomplices, came on a motorcycle and threw acid on the girl and sped away. The girl was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to the burn injuries. The girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the police and alleged that Sanjay, alias Kala, of the Shastri colony threw acid on her daughter. She also alleged that Sanjay was married and had proposed to marry her daughter. When the victim refused to marry him, Sanjay threw acid on her. |
HJC demands action against illegal industrial units
Faridabad, May 3 Senior HJC leader Ekram Khan met Abhey Singh Yadav, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF), along with agitated residents on the issue. The residents, bulk of them from the NIT area, submitted a memorandum to Yadav urging immediate action against the illegal units. They pointed out that the units spread pollution, affecting the general health of the populace. They further alleged that the units do not keep regular timings with regard to their operations. Consequently, the sound pollution late in the evening affect studies of their children. During their meeting with Yadav, the residents were critical of the role of the officials of the MCF. Some of them alleged of collusion between a section of MCF officials and the unit owners. Court holds four youths guilty of Dalit girl’s rape Hisar, May 3 The court acquitted four other youths charged with the gangrape and absolved two others from the charge of harbouring the rapists. The court will announce the quantum of sentence tomorrow. The rape victim fainted and was shifted to General Hospital, Hisar, in an unconscious condition after knowing the court verdict. She was later discharged from the hospital in the afternoon, where she said she was not satisfied with the court's verdict. Even the counsel for the convicts said he would appeal against the order once the court announced order on the quantum of punishment. Those convicted are Pawan, Vikas, Baljit and Raj Kumar, all residents of Dabra village. The court acquitted Anil, Mohinder and Kuldeep of the village and Sunil from Mangali village from the charges of rape. Suresh from Thua and Rajesh from Sultanpur, who were booked for harbouring rape accused, were also acquitted by the court. As per an FIR registered by the police on September 19, 2012, the victim had taken an auto to go to Patel Nagar, Hisar, on September 9. On her way, a village youth Mohinder met her and offered to drop her at Patel Nagar on his motorcycle. However, he took the girl to the fields of Satrod village, where some other youths came and gang-raped her. |
