Scooterist hit by bus, injured

Jalandhar, April 26
A middle-aged man, riding on his scooter on the Ladowali road, got badly injured in an accident with a private bus.

The bus driver of Sandhu Highways, Jasmel Singh, coming from the tehsil complex side failed to notice the scooterist and dragged him for a few metres. One of the legs of the victim, Kulwant Singh (45), a resident of Kaki Pind, got crushed under the bus.

PCR cops on bike at the site noticed the accident and immediately called a PCR vehicle, which rushed him to hospital.

SHO New Baradari Vijay Kanwar Paul said the victim had been sent to hospital as some amputation might be required. The bus driver, who tried to escape, was arrested and the police was waiting till the evening for the victim to be stable to be able to give his statement.

Woman found dead  in bath tub

An elderly woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house in Tajpur village here yesterday.

The incident came to light when an NRI sister of deceased Amarjit Kaur (72) informed local relatives that she had not been taking calls for the past few days. Ram Tirath, nephew of the deceased, said they opened the lock of the door of the house and found her lying dead in a bath tub.

The relatives said the deceased might have died after falling in the bathroom. The SHO, Lambra, is investigating the matter.
