Amritsar, April 21 The police has started investigations after taking the body in their possession. Senior police officials, including DCP Dr Kaustubh Sharma reached the spot for investigations. According to the information, Parminder was married to Salil about two-and-half-years ago while the couple was residing in the rented accommodation at Ranjit Avenue C-block for the last one year. Inaction: Another cop shifted to Police Lines
Amritsar, April 21 In the latest case, in charge of Baba Bakala police chowki, sub-inspector Gurnam Singh has been suspended and shifted to the Police Lines as he allegedly failed to act on a complaint filed by a former sarpanch of village, Rashpal Kaur. Her son was attacked by several youths of the same area. Rashpal Kaur, a teacher at Shaheed Darshan Singh Pheruman College, Rayya, and a resident of Baba Bakala, had accused the chowki in charge of implicating wrong persons in the case, in which her son was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths while leaving the real culprits free. Kaur alleged that her son Kanwar Mukhpal Singh was thrashed by several persons of the same area when he was returning home after leaving her in the college. She said her son had identified the accused as Jarnail Singh, Sukhbir Singh, Bau, Sahib Singh and Balwinder Singh, all residents of Sathiala village and nearby areas, besides several unidentified persons. They were all armed with iron rods and sharp-edged weapons. However, she alleged that the police omitted the names of Jarnail Singh and Balwinder Singh, while including the names of Simarpreet Singh and Rupinder Singh. She said her son did not know these two persons, but the police entered their names to save Jarnail Singh and Balwinder Singh. Kanwar Mukhpal, who was admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in a serious condition, had stated that he had given the names of Jarnail Singh and Balwinder to sub-inspector Gurnam Singh but he did not know why the police omitted their names. He said he did not know the reason why they had attacked him. However, when the Amritsar rural police failed to take the necessary action in the incident which occurred over a month ago, Rashpal Kaur approached the DIG border range for justice. Paramraj Singh Umranangal, DIG border range, confirmed the suspension of sub-inspector Gurnam Singh, while adding that he had received a number of complaints against his conduct and therefore he has been placed under suspension and an enquiry has been marked against him.

He said the administration had engaged Mumbai-based company Darashaw Consultancy Private Limited to prepare a detail project report (DPR) regarding the plan. He added that at present the project was at the nascent stage and various modalities were being worked out to put it on the track. The company will require about three months to prepare the DPR after getting the NOCs from owners of the shops and houses, whose facade is proposed to be beautified. The Municipal Corporation has been been given the responsibility of arranging the NOCs. Aggarwal categorically stated that in no way the government would interfere in the private ownership. He said the government would spend on beautifying the exterior of their houses and shops to provide a symmetrical and organised look to the pilgrims. The government will source the funds from various agencies. A part of the funds would be covered under a scheme of the 12th Five Year Plan of the Ministry of Tourism. Being a mixed-use project, the company would look for the feasibility of streamlining the haphazard hoardings, storm water drain, open plazas, facade cleaning and conservation of old building heritage structure. Other major assignment before the administration is to create infrastructure for pedestrian shopping to attract pilgrims. Parking is the other major issue on which stress would be laid during the planning of Aggarwal said a provision of Rs 50 crore had been kept and the exact amount required for investment would only be known after getting the DPR report. The consultant agency has to make recommendations keeping in view the route plan of the proposed Personal Rapid Transit System (PRTS) from the railway station to the Golden Temple. |

With arising social suspicions of safety and growth of women in today's society, Veena shared, “Women are strong, it’s wrong to judge their strength purely on the physical level. Give them a healthy environment and see them achieve heights of success. Sadly, there are many flaws in our social and legal system that leads to tragic incidents like rape and female foeticide.” Another inspiring story is of Dr Rajesh Sharma, a music teacher at GNDU’s Department of Music. His blindness not coming in his way to achieve success in the field of music, he is a known composer and judge at some reality music shows. Another young turk fighting for the education of the underprivileged is Mithun. The young guy, who himself had struggled to complete his education due to poverty, has been constantly working to make the lives of 150 of his students better everyday through education.
“I believe education is the only tool to fight poverty, ignorance and social oppression.
