Officials burn midnight oil to rectify errors in remaining papers

Officials of the UT Education Department are now burning the midnight oil to ensure error-free question papers for the remaining examinations of classes IX and XI. The school-based Class X examinations, to be conducted by the department, are starting on March 14.
At PGI, patients forced to drink unsafe water

Patients visiting the PGI have been forced to drink unsafe tap water in the absence of water filters in the new OPD Block and other patient areas. Water taps in various buildings at the PGI are located close to toilets in violation of the hygiene norms, posing a risk of catching infections.

79 applicants receive driver’s licences the same day

The Chandigarh Registration and Licensing Authority (RLA) today issued 150 driver's licences to applicants who had applied for licences this morning. Officials said while 79 applicants returned to receive their
licences, th others did not turn up. The same day delivery of driver's licences has been possible with the clearance of the backlog.

Police teams to be sent to Doda
Chandigarh, March 4
A day after the arrest of two persons, including a juvenile, for possessing four live detonators, the police said they would be sending teams to the native village of the accused, Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, to verify their credentials. The accused Mohammad Safi was produced in a court, which remanded him in three-day police custody. The juvenile arrested in the case was sent to a juvenile home.

Accident victim succumbs to injuries

65-year-old woman, who was hit by a mini-truck on Saturday while she was sitting in an autorickshaw succumbed to her injuries today. Three others including a woman were also injured in the accident. The mishap had occurred on Saturday morning when the woman was going to Sector 52 from her Burial residence in an
autorickshaw. The autorickshaw was hit by a truck on the road dividing Sector 51 and 52 and she was injured alongwith the auto driver Sonu and two occupants of the mini-truck.
