Yoga champs
: The eves and lads of the DAV campus here swept the Panjab University Yoga championship. Gopichand Arya Mahila College principal Dr Neelam Arun Mittu said the team won for the fourth time. DAV College principal Dr Sanjeev Kumar Arora lauded the boys’ team.

AISAD merged with SAD (Amritsar)
: All India Shiromani Akali Dal (AISAD) chief Jaswant Singh Mann has merged his party in SAD (Amritsar) led by Simranjit Singh Mann with the aim to form a Panthic consensus against the SAD in Punjab. Announcing this after inaugurating the news office of the SAD (Amritsar) here, Simranjit Singh said the merger would strengthen his party. He said the party would field Navtej Singh as its candidate for the Moga seat who would file his nomination papers on Wednesday.

Woman dies after being hit by car
: A local resident, Sonia Dasawar, was killed on the spot while her nephew Tanish sustained serious injuries when a speeding car hit them while they were crossing the Phagwara-Banga road. The duo were on their way to attend a social function at the local Maharaj Palace. The car driver managed to flee after the accident.Tanish was referred to a Ludhiana hospital for treatment.

Man jumps before train, dies: A resident of nearby Nangal village, Lakhwinder Singh, allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train near the local railway station. The police said Lakhwinder was reportedly in depression. The railway police has registered a case and handed over the body to the family members of the deceased after a post-mortem examination in the Civil Hospital here.

1 injured in firing at marriage function
: One person was injured in firing after a brawl between two groups at a marriage function in Sheron village near Cheema. Station House Officer Rajwant Singh said following an altercation, Manpreet allegedly fired at Mandip from a pistol. The police said Manpreet and his accomplice Mohanjit have been absconding while the victim has been admitted to a hospital.
