Father, brother want death for all six accused
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, February 5
As the trial of the six accused began in a fast-track court here, father of the December 16 Delhi gang-rape brave heart today demanded death penalty for all six, including the juvenile. “I want all six of them to be hanged,” he said.

He said it hurt the family when she (the girl) was referred to as a gang-rape victim. “Don’t call my daughter gang-rape victim, we are hurt...she is the daughter of the nation,” he said at a press conference flanked by his son, Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta and South Delhi Mayor Savita Gupta.

The family would pursue the case till the end, he declared.

The family wants the world to know the name of their daughter who was brutally raped in a moving bus, sparking countrywide protests. “We want her name to be known to the people. She was really a brave heart. She woke consciousness of the nation…we want death for all the accused,” he said.

The sixth accused, a juvenile, is said to have been the most brutal during the incident. He is currently being tried under the Juvenile Justice Act. The family, however, wants that the “juvenile should be treated like other accused”.

“Once you cross the age of 14, you know what is wrong and what is right. He should not be let scot-free. What we want is justice for my sister,” said the girl’s brother.

Naming museum after girl
Delhi BJP leaders present on the occasion declared that South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) would name its proposed Science Museum in RK Puram on the name of the 23-year-old brave heart. There would be no legal hassle in doing so as the girl’s father had given a written undertaking in that regard, they said.
