The stylish Punjabi screen
Punjabi cinema has seen a makeover, not only in terms of topics and locations, but also the slow yet steady growth of fashion stylists…
When Punjabi films were all about jatt, zameen and his badla, fashion in the respective territory was restricted to plain kurtas and check tehmat for male actors, and randomly embellished salwar suits for the females. Cut to the present times, when the films focus on the life of youngsters, their camaraderie and issues; so it is natural that their looks have also undergone a complementing make-over. For long, we have discussed the same — how actors sport casual yet chic costumes, how the accessories are never in excess and how the blush on heroines’ cheeks is so measured! The change has been brought about by the relentless efforts of fashion stylists, who work really hard to give appropriate looks to actors, which are in tandem with the characters they play on screen. Yet, there is a long way to go. Not all Punjabi films can afford a stylist though; monetary constraints do interfere.

Punjabi Tadka
Energy unlimited
He needs no introduction - a cliché, but one that couldn't have found better usage. Jazzy B, the Punjabi singer is probably one of the few singers whose personal style has been copied by his fans. However, one thing that cannot be copied is the electrifying energy and the peppiness in his numbers. From Naag samhb lai zulfan dey, aaya main gadi mod key, to Maharaja, Jazzy is undoubtedly the crown prince of bhangra. With his party anthem being the latest fad on Youtube, the singer would rather talk in Punjabi…sans accent.

GET PHYSICAL
Fit ‘n’ fine
We all are paying more and more attention to health and fitness. Everyone wants to be fit and in good shape. But, do we know the actual meaning of the fitness and what does it mean to be physically fit? Many people have an incomplete understanding of what fitness actually is. Some of them think fitness means being able to do hundreds of crunches or run a marathon or lift heavy weights. And some of them equate fitness with losing weight and being thin. But being thin does not necessarily mean being fit because someone who is thin can be unfit also.

CELEB POINT

It’s rocking
In classical mould
There is an obvious similarity between the two romantic numbers from Dabangg 1 and Dabangg 2. Yet it doesn’t matter as long as the quality of music and lyrics aren’t compromised with. Dagabaaz Re is a beautiful song, shot equally well. The semi-classical music of the song makes it sound different from the usual romantic numbers of present times. Salman Khan is looking as adorable as he was in Tere Mast Mast Do Nain.
