With weather conditions in the region showing no signs of improvement, rail passengers continue to be a harassed lot as most long-route trains are running behind schedule by several hours. Passengers coming from or going to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan and the North-East are the worst sufferers

Police questions victim’s daughter-in-law

A day after the murder of US-based NRI Balwant Kaur, the police today formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case. The crime investigation agency (CIA-I) will also simultaneously probe the murder case. The police has questioned Amandeep Kaur, daughter-in-law of the victim, in this connection.

Railways to resume work on flyover soon

Training on crop production begins at PAU
Ludhiana, January 2
A three-month training course on "Crop Production," organised for the rural youth, began today at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Nearly 45 participants from across the state are attending the course, being coordinated by the Directorate of Extension Education of the PAU.

Close on the heels of a controversy involving Punjabi rapper Honey Singh, famous singer Diljit Dosanjh has been embroiled into a row over his song in the upcoming Punjabi movie "Sadi Love Story". Diljit has sung a song, which goes: "Oye Aaja tainu kidnap karan sonhiye". A programme for the promotion of the movie was scheduled to be held in a local mall where the star cast of the movie, including Diljit, was to arrive. However, singer-actor Diljit failed to turn up.

Gang of snatchers busted in Khanna
Khanna, January 2
The SP (Detective), Khanna, Bhupinder Singh, addresses the media at Khanna on Wednesday. The district police has claimed to have arrested five members of a mobile snatchers’ gang and recovered 30 mobile phones and big knives from their possession. Addressing a press conference, senior police official Bhupinder Singh said a police party had put up a naka near Bullepur village yesterday.
