Clamour grows for House session on women safety
New Delhi, December 30
As the debate heated up on stricter laws to deal with crime against women, the BJP today reiterated its demand to call a special session of Parliament. The suggestion has not found favour with the Left while the Congress has already rejected it.

Close shave for 6 Vaishno Devi pilgrims as copter makes emergency landing

Seven persons, including the pilot, were injured when a Pawan Hans helicopter carrying Vaishno Devi pilgrims made an emergency landing in a village in Trikuta hills in Reasi district today. A technical snag is said to be the reason behind the emergency landing.

Pakistani militants killed at least 41 persons in two separate incidents, officials said on Sunday, challenging assertions that military offensives have broken the back of hardline Islamist groups.

UPA mulls Telangana Regional Council

The New Year is likely to herald an ad-hoc treatment to the festering wounds of Telangana. Facing political heat over the four-decade-old demand for a separate state, the UPA government is said to be actively considering a proposal to constitute an autonomous Telangana Regional Council, on the lines of Darjeeling Hill Council, to put an end to the political uncertainty in Andhra Pradesh.
