A 10-day combined annual training camp under the command of Col Ashwani Kumar culminated today at Government College for Girls with a cultural

Annual day
Whizkidz celebrated its annual day today. More than 60 students of different age groups participated in the programme. The main attraction of the show was a play that highlighted the parental pressure on kids. Giddha and bhangra were also presented by the students on the occasion. Chief guest Kirti Sharma along with principal Dimple Verma gave away the trophies and medals to the participants.
Justice delivery gained speed

More feathers in cap for veterinary varsity

The year 2012 proved to be another good year for Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
(GADVASU).
The veterinary varsity got accredited by UGC and accreditation by the Indian Council for Agriculture Research
(ICAR) is under process.
The first batch of students of the College of Dairy Science and Technology and the College of Fisheries passed out during the year.

Ludhiana, organised a two-week poultry training programme. Dr Harish Kumar Verma,

Education department will conduct survey to identify physically weak students in government school for their treatment. Health department will conduct a medical check-up half yearly and categorise the students under Body Mass Index (BMI).
New year’s eve police tightens security

The Ludhiana police has strengthened the security arrangements across the city on the New Year eve. The Police Commissioner has also imposed Section 144 of CrPC in the city to mantain law and order.
Heavy police posse will be present at Sarabha

Shahi Imam condemns Delhi rape incident

The grief and anger against the Delhi rape incident continued on Sunday as well. Activists of the Youth Akali Dal burned effigy at Hazuri Baag Colony here today. Agitators led by Youth Akali Dal leader Yuvraj Malhotra demanded capital punishment for the accused of Delhi rape.

4 booked for kidnapping girl
Ludhiana, December 30
The police has booked four youngsters for abducting an 18-year-old girl from Azad Nagar, Bahadurke road, in the Jodhewal Basti area. The girl, who has been identified as Suman of Azad Nagar, Bahadurke road, was abducted on December 25.
Woman booked for confining daughter-in-law
Ludhiana, December 30
The police has booked a 55-year-old woman for confining her daughter-in-law and grandson. The woman, identified as, Sushma Jain, was booked under Section 342 of the IPC for wrong
confinement following the complaint of Gunjan Jain. The accused an complainant reside in Surya Vehar near Raghunath Enclave.
Man booked for raping fiancee
Ludhiana, December 30
The city police has booked a doctor for duping and raping his fiancee, a medical student. The victim, in her complaint, stated that she got engaged to Doctor Kawar
Samrat, a resident of Samana in Patiala, in May this year.
