There was further evidence of disarray in the BJP today. A day after party patriarch LK Advani used his blog to attack his bete noire BJP president Nitin Gadkari, an editorial in the party mouthpiece Kamal Sandesh hit out at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and other regional satraps such as former Rajasthan and Karnataka chief ministers, Vasundhra Raje and BS Yeddyurappa, for their increasing show of defiance.

India declined to comment on any of the 169 recommendations made by 80 UN member states that participated in its second universal periodic review (UPR) of human rights that concluded in Geneva yesterday.

The Punjab Congress campaign for the municipal corporation, nagar council and nagar panchayat elections is floundering with the party being hit hard by rebellion in Ludhiana and Patiala. It is virtually finding no takers for nagar council and nagar panchayat seats. The party, which earlier faced criticism for failing to distribute ticket in league with grassroot workers, has also failed to placate rebels.
