Turfed Out: Top Officials Cling on to Govt Houses
Ludhiana, July 8
In a familiar occurrence of law enforcers throwing rules to the winds, several police and government officials who have earlier been transferred from the city continue to retain government houses leaving those posted in their place fuming.

The 108 emergency ambulance service proved to be a blessing for Harpreet Kaur, a resident of Jodhan Road in Raikot in Ludhiana district, who delivered her first child in the ambulance that was taking her to the town’s Civil Hospital on Friday.

Beopar mandal rejects VAT return forms

The Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) today outrightly rejected the new value added tax (VAT) return forms 23 and 24 and called for withdrawal of the new forms, which it said, were impossible to fill in.

PAU invites application for innovative farmer awards

Punjab innovative farmers will be honoured with awards on the eve of PAU Kisan Mela, slated to be held on September 22-23. There will be five awards of different categories for farmers and farm women in recognition of their excellence in the field of farming.

Cong questions efficacy of state government

Putting a question mark on the metro rail project for the city, approved recently by the Punjab government, District Congress Committee (DCC) president Pawan Dewan questioned the efficacy of the state government — which had failed to launch the city bus service during its last four and half years of rule in the state despite having been provided with funds by the Centre — in running the metro rail, which required thousands of crores of rupees.
