New Delhi, July 1
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today called on President Pratibha Patil amid speculation about a Cabinet reshuffle. The meeting lasted 45 minutes, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a press communiqué.

“The two leaders discussed about the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament and the current political situation. They also discussed various other issues of national and international importance,” it added.

The meeting comes two days after the Prime Minister had told a group of editors that a Cabinet reshuffle was in the offing. Patil is going to Hyderabad tomorrow on a week-long sojourn and speculation persisted that the proposed reshuffle will take place after her return on July 8.
