Claiming that the US had largely achieved its goals in Afghanistan, and acknowledging the financial strain of sustaining the war on terror, US President Barack Obama today ordered withdrawal of his troops from there beginning this year.

Rescued Suez sailors reach Karachi
10-month ordeal of 6 Indians ends
Islamabad/Karachi, June 23
The 10-month ordeal of Indian sailors of MV Suez finally came to an end today as the crew reached Karachi. Pakistan navy made special arrangements to ensure the safe arrival of all crew members of MV Suez, which included sailors from Pakistan, Egypt and Sri Lanka also. The MV Suez sank off the Oman port after it ran out of fuel. The crew had to abandon it.

Sarpanch’s attacker burnt alive in Gurgaon
Gurgaon, June 23
One of the motorcycle-borne assailants, who shot dead a village head at Hayatpur here this afternoon, was set on fire by angry villagers. He died on the spot while other assailants managed to escape. Police failed to act on time despite advance information about a brewing dispute over water between the deceased headman and others from the same village.
