IMD: Below normal monsoon this year New Delhi, June 21 Scaling down its earlier forecast of a “normal” monsoon, the India Meteorological Department today predicted seasonal rains this year to be “below normal”. The weather office also predicted “weakening” of monsoon currents in the first two weeks of July but assured that the rains, so very vital for the country’s farm-based economy, would pick up around July 15.
