Residents protest delay in LPG supply:
Residents here yesterday protested against the delay in the supply of LPG cylinders and blocked traffic on the Dera Bassi-Barwala road. Consumers alleged that the delay and shortage of LPG supply had been causing inconvenience to them from the past one month. Meanwhile, gas agency officials said supply was being delayed from the company godown. They claimed that they had arranged sufficient supply of cylinders for consumers.

Animals burnt alive:
Nine buffaloes, nine calves and a bull were burnt alive when some miscreants set ablaze a “katcha yard” of Saif Ali at Madeenpur village on Friday night. According to police sources, 15 buffaloes, two calves and a horse got burn injuries due to the fire. A case has been registered.

7 injured in road mishap
Bathinda: Seven persons were injured after a jeep they were travelling in hit an electric pole before overturning near Bhaliana village on Sunday. Activists of the Noujwan Welfare Society, who rushed the injured to the Civil Hospital here, said the injured belonged to Dhoorkot village and were returning after attending a Shagun ceremony of their kin. — TNS

Two killed
Sriganganagar:Two persons were killed in a road mishap last night near village Shergarh here. The deceased have been identified as Ashok Kumar of village Jandwala Bhimeshah and Mahabir of Dabwali, police sources said.The car driver Sanjeev Kumar has been referred to DMC Ludhiana.The driver of the tractor-trolley escaped from the site of the accident, sources said. — OC

Omar reviews rehab works in Leh
: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday inaugurated a 4.5 MW diesel power station at Leh, which would augment the electric supply in the area, besides electrifying the newly developed Solar Colony for the affected families of flash floods at Choglamsar. It has been constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore. During his visit to Leh the Chief Minister inspected the rehabilitation works at various places, including Solar Colony at Choglamsar, where 158 flood affected families had shifted.

Renew voter cards:
Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) members carried out a drive for the renewal of election cards in Mussoorie. The BJYM workers went door-to-door and urged the voters to procure new cards. The workers also assisted in the process of filling the cards. According to the BJYM workers, their target was of reaching out to 200 voters. This marks the preparations for the 2012 elections in the BJP camp.
