AYODHYA HEADS TO SUPREME COURT
Allahabad HC’s please-all verdict divides disputed site among the three petitioners
Lucknow/New Delhi,  September 30
The much-awaited judgment of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court today unanimously ruled that the idols of ‘Ram Lalla’ in the makeshift temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya cannot be removed.

Central dome of the demolished structure is the place of ‘Ram Lalla’ and goes to Hindu petitioners
The Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board would be given one-third of the disputed property
Another Hindu petitioner, Nirmohi Akhara, to get ‘Ram Chabootra’ and ‘Sita Rasoi’
Waqf Board and Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha to challenge verdict in the Supreme Court

Ayodhya, September 30
Ayodhya came alive with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” as the High Court ruled that the disputed site where Ram Lalla’s idol stoods would belong to the Lord and a temple could come up there.

Others feel restive
In the Muslim pockets of Ayodhya, the mood turned sombre as news came in that the High Court had dismissed the community’s claim to the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi Babri Masjid site.

BJP, Sangh Parivar elated
New Delhi, September 30
The Allahabad High Court judgment on the Ayodhya dispute has boosted the morale of the BJP and other Sangh Parivar members, with all of them elated at the prospect of constructing the Ram Mandir at the disputed spot.

Radicals set to throttle chances of reconciliation
Despite a please-all verdict of the Allahabad High Court in the decades old Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, neither of the warring sides is willing to bend on the issue of actual ownership of land. They feel the land can’t belong to all contesting parties at the same time and its title must be decided if discord is to end.

Wary Cong turns to philosophy
New Delhi, September 30
An extremely guarded Congress evoked Lord Rama and took the help of philosophy to put across its point that the Ayodhya verdict should not be perceived as a victory or defeat for any community and that none should indulge in activity that could affect peace and harmony. Responding to reports of bursting of crackers by some religious groups after the judgement, party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi quoted a Sanskrit shloka to explain how Lord Ram maintained composure under all conditions- good and bad.

Within hours of the Ayodhya verdict, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appealed to countrymen to maintain peace and tranquility and show respect for all religions and beliefs in the highest tradition of Indian culture. At the same time, he said the government was committed to upholding the rule of the law and maintaining peace and order.
