Loans worth Rs 6 crore distributed:
The State Bank of Patiala, Sirhind, organised a customer meet here yesterday. Pukhraj Kanther, general manager (operation), RS Nathawat, deputy general manager, Patiala Zone, and SK Garg, assistant general manager, Patiala, interacted with customers and explained them different d Kanther distributed loans worth Rs 6 crore to entrepreneurs, farmers and economically weaker section of the society.

Dowry: 3 booked:
A housewife was tortured, maltreated and beaten up for more dowry by the members of her in-laws’ family at Ajnoha village. The Model Town police has booked Jasvir Singh, his mother Narinder Kaur and sister Kuljit Kaur, all of Ajnoha village, under sections 498 A, 344, 324 and 506 of the IPC. According to police sources, Baljit Kaur, wife of Jasvir Singh, alleged that her husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law used to torture, maltreat and beat her up to bring more dowry. They also threatened to kill her. They tried to send her to Canada on fake documents.

5 suspected dengue cases:
Five suspected dengue cases were reported in the New Avatar Nagar locality in Jalandhar on Saturday. Two persons were admitted to DMC Ludhiana and the rest were in private hospitals in Jalandhar. DHO R.L. Bassan said the cases are suspected and reports are yet to be confirmed.

Cop suspended: Commissioner of Police Gaurav Yadav has placed under inspector Rur Singh under suspension and sent SHO of police station number five Nirmal Singh to the lines on the charge of taking bribe from an accused in a theft case. The role of Nirmal Singh is being probed. A police official said EOW in charge Balwinder Iqbal Singh Kahlon has been posted as SHO of police station number five.

Ambala
Babbar Khalsa ultras sent to police custody:
The police has brought three alleged Babbar Khalsa extremists to Ambala on transit remand and produced them in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate today. The trio had allegedly conspired to blow up police post no. 4 near Nahan House in Ambala City on April 8, 2010. Jaswinder Singh, Gurjant Singh and Majinder Singh were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Praveen Gupta who remanded them to police custody for two days.
