Nagar kirtan culminates: Nagar kirtan from eight different places culminated at Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday. Nagar kirtan from Bhabhaur Sahib,
Bhagpur, Bahman Majra, Lalpur Barwa, Kiraptur Sahib, Chandpur Bela, SGS Khalsa Senior Secondary School and Baili area of Himachal Pradesh culminated at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.
People from all walks of life and areas were a part of these nagar kirtan that coloured the city in Khalsa spirit.
BATHINDA
Left plans protest: To lodge their protest against the rising prices, deteriorating law and order situation, financial crisis, corruption at various levels and growing danger of communal division in the state, members and activists of the CPI and the CPM will observe fast in front of the offices of the SDMs from January 18 to January 22 throughout the state. Central and state-level leaders of both parties will also take part to put pressure on the state government to redress the problems of the masses and adopt “pro-people” policies. Tewari. One dies at rly track:
An unidentified old man, aged between 60 and 65 years, died in a mishap at the railway track here on Sunday night. On receiving information, activists of the Sahara Jan Sewa reached the spot and informed the railway police, which started investigations into the mishap. Meanwhile, an old man’s body was found from the Liberty Chowk here on Tuesday. The Sahara workers took the body to the hospital. The deceased was identified as Roshan
Lal, a resident of Civil Lines here. His family members were informed, who, on reaching the hospital, said Roshan Lal had left house for walk on Tuesday morning.

Marathons: Teri Sikhi, the first world peace organisation of the Sikhs, has decided to organise marathons at all locations where Guru Nanak Dev went during the four ‘udassies’ (religious journeys) taken by him during his lifetime to spread his message of harmony in the world. Not only this, the Teri Sikhi, a non-profit organisation established by US-based young Sikhs in 2008, would also make efforts to put pressure on the Governments of Pakistan and India to set up Kartarpur Sahib corridor to link Dera Baba Nanak and Kartarpur Sahib. Jaspal Singh, one of the founders of Teri Sikhi, while talking to TNS over the phone, said Teri Sikhi would not make all efforts to get the Kartarpur Sahib corridor constructed and then getting it declared as a peace zone.
4 held for killing youth: The Ferozpur Police has arrested four persons in connection with murder of a youth named
Aman, regarding which a case has been registered on August 19, 2009, on the basis of statement of
Vishal, brother of the deceased. Those arrested included Deepak alias Sunny, Sagar
Puri, Aman and Bao, all residents of Ferozpur. Ludhiana
Kaushal re-elected chairman:
BR Kaushal has been unanimously re-elected chairman of the Pensioners Information Centre Management Committee for the fifth time.
The term is for two years. Out of 30 members of the managing committee, around 27 were present at the meeting held here today.
Kaushal has been authorised to nominate other office-bearers and members of the executive committee for 2010-2012.

Body found from drain: The police recovered a body of a male from a drain passing through the Abrol Nagar locality here today. According to sources, children spotted the body first while they were playing near the drain following which residents of the colony informed the police. ASI Dalip Kumar said deceased was in the age group of 45-48 years. The body would be kept in the Civil Hospital for identification.
