22 die in Mathura train mishap 
Goa Express rams into stationary Mewar Express

Mathura, October 21
In a pre-dawn mishap, at least 22 persons were killed and as many injured when the Delhi-bound Goa Express, whose driver apparently ignored the signal, rammed into the last bogie of the stationary Mewar Express near here today.

Bill to resurrect judiciary’s image soon
New Delhi, October 21
The government is determined to “resurrect the credibility and image” of the judiciary without diluting its independence through the proposed Judicial Standard and Accountability Bill, Law Minister M Veerappa Moily announced today.

India, China ink pact on climate change
New Delhi, October 21
Amidst tension over political issues, India and China on Wednesday signed an agreement to cooperate on ways to fight climate change.

Punjab bats for nuclear power plant
Chandigarh, October 21
In a major shift in its policy on setting up a nuclear power plant in the state, Punjab will now lobby with the Centre to give it a Light Water Reactor (LWR)-based nuclear power plant. “Experience from across the world shows it is safe and we now know its benefits. I have already made up my mind to take up the issue with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,” the Punjab Chief Minister announced here today.

Haryana verdict by noon
Chandigarh, October 21
By tomorrow afternoon it will become clear who will govern Haryana for the next five years as the votes polled on October 13 for the twelfth Vidhan Sabha of the state will be counted at 90 centres. The counting will commence at 8 am, with postal ballots to be taken up first.
All arrangements for the counting have been completed by the election authorities who have deployed massive security around the counting centres.
