Khan serious
proliferation risk: US
President Barack Obama wants assurances from
Pakistan that rogue nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan is not
involved in the nuclear proliferation activity that prompted his
house arrest in 2004. The Islamabad High Court on Friday
declared Dr Khan a free man. US officials said they did not have confirmation
of the court's ruling from the government of Pakistan but
reacted sharply in response to reports of Khan’s freedom.

killed in Churu
Jaipur, February 7
One person was killed and six others were injured today in
clashes between police and unruly mob protesting the murder of
BSP leader Virendra Nangli, who was gunned down by two
motorcycle- borne youths in Churu on Friday. The police
fulfilled the main demand of the protesters by booking a sitting
MP, Ram Singh Kasava, belonging to the BJP for murder.
Youth opens
fire at CST
Mumbai, February 7
The railway police arrested a youth, Rajesh Tomar, this morning
after he opened fire inside the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus
railway station. The police said Tomar who was roaming inside the
railway station panicked when he was called to open his bag for
checking. Tomar (19), however, pulled out a countrymade gun from
his bag and fired a round before attempting to flee.
Vajpayee serious but
stable
New Delhi, February 7
Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee continues to be on assisted
breathing devices in the intensive care unit of AIIMS. His condition,
said the doctors, was serious but stable, and he would have to be kept
under intensive medical surveillance for at least 10 days.
